Most tourists who come to Hong Kong fall immediately in love with the city. The sea of lights, the skyscraper skyline, the nature, the old, the new, crowded streets and empty beaches, Hong Kong caters for all tastes.
If you come to Hong Kong as an expat, the initial excitement is broadly similar. However as it is with all relationships, whether human or urban, the honeymoon phase does not last forever. After this period ends, the real relationship starts and for my part it’s been a combination of love, hate, frustration and joy. Sometimes I feel that the negative parts overrule the positive aspects of living in Hong Kong but if I really think about it, it is the other way around.
Hong Kong is a fantastic city and it brings great pleassure and fun to live here. I moved to Hong Kong almost 1.5 years ago and since then found 5 really persuasive reasons to love Hong Kong as an expat (apart from the food and the experience to live abroad)….
