If you have ever been to Cairo in Egypt you know that it can be quite overwhelming and at times even stressful. Cairo is known for being a bustling and energetic city which I love as there is always so much to explore and discover. But sometimes I feel the need to unwind and relax. So, no matter if you come to visit Egypt’s capital for a few days or if you live here, there are some laid-back ways to make most of the city.
Four Seasons Nile Plaza Spa
Wake up, have a healthy smoothie and start your day with a relaxing Balinese massage. The Spa at Four Seasons Hotel Cairo at Nile Plaza is known for being one of the best in Cairo and provides a great break for anyone either working or sightseeing in Cairo. The hotel is conveniently located close to downtown, in the Garden city district, an elegant and quiet neighbourhood. The Spa itself can be found on the fifth floor where the treatment rooms have a beautiful view over the Nile and Cairo.
As you enter the Spa the lovely receptionists make sure that you feel welcome and are escorted through the Spa. The usage of the wellness area including sauna and Jacuzzi as well as an indoor swimming pool is included. The Balinese massage starts with a soothing foot scrub and ends with a relaxing head massage. Afterwards, your body and muscles are eased and your mind motivated to tackle new adventures in Cairo.
Cairo is much more peaceful when being explored from the Nile. Watch the charming riverfronts and experience the beautiful view of the River Nile. Feluccas are traditional Egyptian sailing boats that run without an engine. Before you go onboard buy some cold drinks and snacks and enjoy a little picnic on the water. The Nile is much more quiet than Cairo’s streets and you’ll have the chance to watch fishermen, green islands and just observe life along the river.
Afternoon Tea at the Tea Lounge at the Four Seasons Hotel
One of the most iconic British traditions, the Afternoon tea, has found its way to buzzing Cairo. The Afternoon tea at the Tea Lounge at Four Seasons Hotel (First Residence) does not only offer delicate pastries, fresh sandwiches and a cup of tea, it also offers the opportunity to pamper yourself and relax from the day’s stress. A lush mix between lunchroom and tea parlor, the Tea Lounge is perfect to spend a dreamy afternoon with no thoughts about the noise and chaos from outside.
Located on Gezira Island (Zamalek), the Cairo Tower offers a beautiful view of Cairo. There is easy access to the top by elevator or hundreds of stairs for the more energetic visitors. From the viewing platform, guests are able to see the whole of Cairo, stretching from the Pyramides to the Citadele and beyond. Leave noise and dust behind, look down on Cairo’s busy street life and enjoy its chaotic atmosphere from a distance.
Magic Lake (Fayoum Desert)
If you want to get away from Cairo but don’t want to spend hours driving towards the Red Sea, the Magic Lake in the Fayoum Desert is an idyllic piece of land. Just 80 km from Cairo and great for a weekend getaway, the Magic Lake is a place of absolute silence. You can either camp there or drive in and out the same day. No matter your schedule it is breathtakingly beautiful and super relaxing.
